Pickle Unveils Community Features, Raises The Bar On Content Syndication
Pickle, the easiest way to share videos and photos from both your camera and mobile phone, today launched
a new part of its service that enables users to engage with the content of other users. In addition, Pickle members
can now post their media to social networking sites, including MySpace, Facebook, and Xanga, as well as auction
sites such as eBay with just a few clicks. Pickle's new capabilities raise the bar on content syndication by
providing users greater flexibility to post multiple items at one time -- in different photo and video sizes.
Pickle takes advantage of existing user behavior to share photo and video files. Through email,
and now added support for social networking and auction sites, Pickle is constantly working to improve the
way the world is already sharing digital assets.
"There are many options out there for sharing personal media, and none of them work the way people
tend to communicate -- which keeps them from being adopted or used widely," said John Funge, CEO of
Pickle. "By enabling the sharing of personal media in ways people already communicate and behave
online, we are building on cultural momentum already in progress which ultimately lowers the barrier entry."
Designed from the ground up to manage and share both photos and videos, Pickle eliminates the
need to store personal media on multiple sites. Simply drag-and-drop your personal media to your Pickle
page, via Pickle's web-interface, and you are ready to share.
Pickle addresses the problem of media sharing through e-mail and simplifies life not only
for the sender but for the recipient. Using PickleMails, special compressed e-mails, photos and videos
are easily shared among family and friends without clogging inboxes. Best of all, videos uploaded to
Pickle use the Flash Player, already on 98 percent of all desktops, which means there is no plug-in
or player to download in order to view the video.
Each album, known as a channel, has its own user-defined e-mail address. Friends and family
can contribute their digital media to a channel by simply e-mailing it to the channel e-mail address.
