PICKLE LAUNCHES
MAKING VIDEO AND PHOTO SHARING AS EASY AS E-MAIL
Intuitive design simplifies online sharing and blog posting of personal media.
Pickle, a remarkably easy, next generation video and photo sharing service launches today.
Designed from the ground up to manage and share both photos and videos, Pickle
eliminates the need to store personal media on multiple sites. Pickle addresses the problem of media sharing
through e-mail and simplifies it for the person who sends it and the person who receives it.
"The vast majority of people share their photos and videos via e-mail because e-mail is easy and
convenient," said John Funge, CEO and founder of Pickle. "Still, e-mail lacks the technology required for a
truly satisfying experience when sharing personal media. So, we designed Pickle to complement e-mail
and enable people to share personal media in a familiar, user-friendly way. Pickle bridges e-mail with
the Web experience and makes video and photo sharing what it should be - an easy, seamless and very
social way to share the stories of your life."
Using PickleMails, special compressed e-mails for personal media, photos and videos are easily
shared among family and friends without clogging receivers' inboxes. Each album, known as a channel,
has its own user-defined e-mail address. So friends and family can contribute digital media to a
Channel by simply e-mailing to the channel e-mail address.
What You Can Do With Pickle
With Pickle you can:
- Create vivid video and photo albums, called channels.
- Send photos and videos to your channel from a mobile phone or wi-fi camera.
- Craft crowd-pleasing video and photo PickleMails.
- Post videos or photos to your blog.
- Automatically resize your photos and translate video into an easy-to-share format.
- Convert videos into an easily sharable format with just one click.
- Let your imagination run free.
How Pickle Works
Users can upload and organize photos and videos using the Pickle user interface, which works like
web-based e-mail. Sharing photos and videos is easy with PickleMail, special e-mail messages that looks
like a Web page and is designed specifically for sharing personal media without clogging mailboxes. PickleMail
can be customized with an array of look and layout options.
Creating a channel turns photos and video into sharable albums for any occasion from the latest ski
trip to a best friend's wedding to random shots from a mobile phone. Each channel has its own user-
defined e-mail address and can also be password protected. The look and layout of each channel can be
customized and organized using captions and tags. Users can sort by date uploaded or taken and search their
whole collection instantly.
Pickle lets users create links to Blogger, TypePad, and LiveJournal blogs and post videos and photos
to blogs with a few clicks. Multiple items can be posted to a blog at one time. As well, Pickle lets
users select photos and videos and then dynamically generates the HTML needed to include of the selected
photos or videos on another website.
The Picklescape feature allows users to see friends' and family's shared videos and photos – all in
one place. Pickle supports a wide array of video and digital camera file formats and translates videos into
a common, easily-sharable format.
